The most robust insect trap dataset ever compiled over the course of one season.

Blog by Bill Gass, Director of Business Development

As we wind down the growing season, our friends at Spensa are busy compiling data. When you think about it, they have a big job to do –because they have a lot of data. This year, we deployed 360 Z-Traps across the Corn Belt, continuously reporting insect data from June 1 through September 1.

During that time, the Z-Trap network has generated over 33,000 daily reports that provided insect counts on a real- time basis. This is probably the most robust insect trap dataset ever compiled over the course of one season.

The intention with this work is to analyze all this data to provide some valuable insight for using Z-traps in the future and to provide better predictions for insect populations going forward. As the engineers and the entomologists release the conclusions from this work, we will provide you the findings.

Even though it is almost time to pull our Z-Traps out of the field, we will still be providing you with analysis and insights from the program.

Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
